Tracking a network of Bay Area political pressure groups, secretly funded by a handful of conservative tech and real estate robber barons.linktr.ee/phoenixproject… San FranciscoJoined December 2023
We don’t have to accept the future that big tech billionaires want to jam down our throats. Catastrophic job loss & deskilling are a political choice.
Working people deserve elected officials who will fight to save jobs, regulate AI and tax the uber-wealthy.
Remember how Harmeet helped with the school board recall with her Center for American Liberty pals Chris Marston and Lee Cheng. Remember how she said, “Well done” to @GrowSF and their David Sacks funded friends.
But it was a “Democrat led” recall, not a Trojan Horse. /s
San Francisco attorney Harmeet Dhillon, the former California Republican party leader, was confirmed Thursday to be assistant attorney general for civil rights by a 52-45 vote that cleaved along party lines. trib.al/fotZM9j
The crime panic stories have ended. But Lurie has also worked hard to influence people’s perceptions.
He changed the way homelessness is counted in the city in a bid to manipulate data in his favor. He also paid ~$1 million to a PR firm to help him generate positive press about his tenure.
Did crime fall at rates greater than before? Not really. But the DA routinely overcharges people to boost her own tough on crime persona while jails swell out of control. It helps create the perception that “something is being done” to the satisfaction of wealthy residents.
Isaac Abid, the major funders and proponents of recalls is founder of Oakland Report. It's right there in the paperwork but never mentioned. "Grassroots" OR also hired Nielson Mierksammer"-Joel Aurora is a partner at elite law firm used by the consortium of recall-connected IEs
They used to say, anyone can have freedom of the press as long as they can buy a newspaper. Now those same entities can buy low-barrier alternatives which were meant to empower grassroots. Oakland Report and Empower Oakland visible dopplegangers major media pretends not to see.
Sam Singer retweets Garry Tan attacking Barbara Lee and shouting out Coin Base astroturf organization Empower Oakland just as Seneca Scott launches a new wave of fake accounts and a website quoting Duane Tatum as Edward Escobar hits up my page with a bot.
Their funding is back.
Keep tabs on these X accounts they all seem to be ran by the same person or entity. They all follow each other even if their accounts only have 6 or so followers. They also comment on each other’s posts as well as Seneca’s
New website attacking Barbara Lee just dropped. 100% ran by Seneca. Disclosures say it’s paid for by “Americans for Opportunity” and it isn’t affiliated with a recall committee. Not sure why the latter disclaimer was necessary.
No idea who “Americans for Opportunity” is.

@bilalmahmood@behindthenet Give it up.
You were recruited (and moved to the district) to be the designated recipient of a PAC that pre-existed your claiming it.
Your supervisor campaign was running as an employee of donors in a way that was kind of groundbreaking.
The Lurie/GrowSF agenda is primarily about austerity, with other issues as window dressing. Hollowing out public investment and unleashing privatization is the fundamental goal.
Being henchfolk to billionaires has become the prevailing mode in Bay Area politics.
Huge industry. All the political spending and influence operations, the people with money are generally idle and serving their egos is an easier route to their money than a business pitch.
Supervisor Alan Wong annihilated his opponents on election day. But it happened with little emphasis of Wong the candidate.
What carried the day instead was a simple message: He will be one more reliable vote for Mayor Lurie’s agenda.

Trump plans to fund Oakland coal terminal:
The president will use the Defense Production Act to provide $75 million for a controversial West Oakland coal export hub.

In six years, SF went from being historically one of the most left-ish cities in the US, to being its most far-right. Surpassing places like Oklahoma City and Virginia Beach, and far beyond big cities in red states like Miami and Houston.
Tech-AI bubble money.
Daniel Lurie wasn’t on the ballot Tuesday night, but that didn’t stop him from being the city’s biggest political winner: Two of his allies won special elections, plus competing tax measures that he opposed are both on track to fail.

I'm depressed about the politics here in San Francisco. Big money wins everytime. Lurie's part of that crowd. He and his big money buddies buy elections everytime. We everyday SFers don't have a chance and our voices are NEVER heard. Wiener's awful.
Money ruled this election. Lurie, heir to the Levi Strauss fortune, has built a compliant Board of Supervisors and allied offices. If his policies fail, he has no one to blame but himself.
