LeBron James started with a tutoring and college scholarship program in 2011. In 2018, he opened the I Promise School. Today, he’s growing his I Promise world in Akron, creating a housing complex, a primary care facility and a job training facility andscape.com/features/lebro…
@Phil_Lewis_ @rolandsmartin James' initiatives for education and community development in Akron are admirable. However, systemic issues require more comprehensive solutions, and he lacks control over the school curriculum. Evidence-based solutions are necessary for quality education.
@Phil_Lewis_ It's great that he is doing that but we can't just hope for benevolent rich people to do what the state should be doing
@Phil_Lewis_ That’s what you call giving back to your community!!
@Phil_Lewis_ He should be doing even more. He’s worth a billion!
@Phil_Lewis_ I wish more celebrities would do this. Stop relying on the government and help your community grow yourself
@Phil_Lewis_ He's the #GOAT𓃵 and he really does care for his community and where he came from. The Lebron James Family Foundation has been active pretty much his entire NBA career--even before he started I Promise. He's doing amazing things in Akron!
@Phil_Lewis_ LeBron has given back, and given back and given back again to Akron, Ohio and Summit County. There are LeBron haters for what he does on the court against their teams, but personally, he’s an incredibly caring, generous, humble talent.
@Phil_Lewis_ He puts his money where his mouth is, which is more than can be said for his critics. Respect
@Phil_Lewis_ Reminds me of the Geoffrey Canada @hczorg model which was created in the 1990s and is still highly successful - school, healthcare, housing, job placement, daycare, support services - from cradle to career.
