It’s not just the PM, every political figure, notable media personality, celebrity, sportsman, influencer—and above all every serving policeman—should now take the knee in public for Novak and much else besides. It is a cost-free gesture of physical rhetoric that might, just might, bleed off some of the explosive tension now building across these islands. They invented this symbolic act and once urged it on with fanatical insistence. Today they cannot perform it. That inability is the tell. To take the knee is not a polite nod of respect; it is ideological submission. It was always a rhetorical bludgeon designed to force public signalling of allegiance. Refuse it and you declare for your tribe; perform it and you declare for the other. Such overt tribal markers only become urgent when people sense the approach of real stakes—when security feels fragile and the ancient business of friend-and-foe calculation begins. We are on the cusp. Britain’s culture war is no longer a metaphor. It is the prelude and the recruiting sergeant for something uglier. Rotherham, Oldham, Southport; grooming scandals airbrushed for decades; two-tier policing that can no longer be denied; official reports shelved while 2024’s rioters were branded 'far-right' and far larger provocations ignored—these are not isolated failures. They are symptoms of a profound cleavage over who we are, what our laws still mean, and whose side the state is truly on. When the institutions meant to protect the vulnerable instead shield the predators and gaslight the public, legitimacy begins to haemorrhage. James Davison Hunter, who popularised the term 'culture war,' feared symbolic struggle would harden into actual conflict. He was right to be afraid. British strategists who still treat this as mere noise—something separate from the 'real' wars that preoccupy them—do disservice to their craft.  Wars are not always tidy ways-ends-means calculations within the bounded world of soldiers and statesmen. Sometimes they erupt volcanically from below. This is not outside Clausewitz’s trinity; it reveals its terrifying malleability.  When the passion of the people becomes dominant, the army can become spectator, and a state that has lost legitimacy finds itself unable even to guarantee its own survival. The tribes are already counting their numbers. History is brutally clear on what follows when they stop trusting the state to keep score. A simple kneeling could once have signalled magnanimity and bought vital time. The fact it is now impossible for one side shows how late the hour truly is.

I have written to Hampshire Police: 1) The body-cam footage directly contradicts the public statement made by Deputy Chief Constable Robert France. DCC France claimed officers lacked "all of the information" and that Henry's injuries were hidden and internal. The footage shows the opposite. Before officers even handcuffed Henry, they were explicitly warned by a the murderer’s father that he had a "mouth full of blood" and couldn't hold himself up. Henry himself clearly tells officers: "He stabbed me, I've been stabbed, I can't breathe." The arresting officer's response? "I don't think you have mate." Henry was dragged across a driveway, handcuffed as a suspect rather than treated as a victim, and died minutes later. Judge Mousley KC’s sentencing remarks confirm Henry had a "clearly visible facial wound." DCC France’s statement is misleading, indefensible, and a potential breach of Police Conduct Regulations.  2) DCC France’s statement implies that the police considered it justifiable to take what was claimed by an ethnic minority family as absolute fact. Upon being presented with a man that has a "mouth full of blood", that "keeps dropping side to side" and repeats "I've been stabbed, l've been stabbed, I can't breathe, the arresting officer's response was "I don't think you have mate." Attending officers had more than enough information to treat Henry as the victim, not the suspect. Hampshire Police’s "Race Action Plan" embeds anti-white racism in its operations, which today’s reports in The Times reveal has left rank-and-file officers feeling "controlled and pressured." The Police Race Action Plan, launched under the Tory Government, demands that Police Officers “(do) not treat everyone the same”, nor be “colour blind”. The public deserves to know: How has this plan operationalised policing?  We need answers. WE WILL NOT LET THIS REST

Henry Nowak was murdered in December. The force in question has had 6 months in which to investigate the failures by their own officers. THEY HAVENT EVEN STARTED. This tells me that they were hoping the time-lag would allow it all to just blow over. It's a travesty.

I found this moving account of someone at the Southampton vigil for Henry Nowak on Facebook: Last night a few people mentioned the 'Southampton Riots' and were surprised I was there. So let me clarify. I went to Southampton to show my respect for Henry, that his death wasn't in vain, and that knife crime and two tier policing needs to stop. I am not a 'grief tourist', a 'far right fascist' or a 'rioter'. What the media didn't show you, was that the initial 2000 people showed absolute respect. A minutes silence, the Lords prayer, a song. The only incitement was the police who tried to push us down the stairs twice to bait a reaction. Then we marched. People parked their cars and joined us. People came out of flats, houses and shops and joined us. Drivers bibbed their horns showing solidarity. Sikhs shook our hands apologising. (we know it's not their fault) When we passed the Gurdwawa there was silence and no chants. The march grew to about 5,000 people. We ALL CARE. This won't be shown on social media as it doesn't fit the narrative. The police tried to kettle us. Fire engines and ambulances sent up and down the road for no other reason than to remove us. At Belmont Road (where Henry died) we stayed 100m away from the location. The police were protecting the Digwa house. Where the father, charged with various knife offences (not charged with perverting justice or kidnap) and the brother charged with similar knife offences (but not perverting justice, kidnap and assualt) were happily watching TV. 1000 of us all got on one knee. We asked the police to join us. At this point there was no riot gear. They refused. They were asked please join us. They refused. I don't for one minute condone the riots or violence. I was stood on top of a high wall with two polish fellas. Out of the way. We could see from our vantage point the police donning riot gear behind the row of vehicles. At that point I and a friend from the IOW left and walked back. Then the riots, which we never saw, must have occurred. Please don't be blindsighted by the biased media. Please watch GB News. This isn't black v white. Many different ethnicities joined us and as mentioned Sikhs shook our hands. I never saw any race hate whatsoever. This isn't left v right. It's about the unlawful killing of a white man because he was white, because of knife crime and because the police are so scared to be called racist they prioritised lies and false claims of racism instead of an obvious desperate and dying young man. If you can't see that yet, then I really hope that that day will soon come. Thank you to the messages of support too. I will never ever change. I will always stand up for what I believe in. My integrity has been expensive, yet worth every penny. For those that missed this before, here is the silence observed perfectly by the 2000 at Southampton Police Station.. Thank you.

The CPS has decided to prosecute two white men for disorder and assaulting a police officer in Southampton, but also decided not to prosecute two brown men for disorder and assaulting police officers at Manchester Airport. Thank goodness there's no two tier policing in the UK.

Last week I was listening to the radio and people were ringing in complaining about being unable to secure jobs as doctors or nurses. It’s astonishing that despite over 5000 fully trained British doctors being unemployed. So when they say we need immigration for the NHS due to a shortage, it’s simply not true.

Henry's sister Olivia has likewise shared and supported calls for real accountability instead of scripted silence. A government that uses threats to manage and muzzle a family's grief has lost all moral authority.
