What bothers me most isn't how thinkers who are indifferent to human rights have responded to Gaza. It's the response of liberal hawks whose devotion to human rights elsewhere I deeply admire. The discrepancy reveals a flaw in their view of the world theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
@PeterBeinart yes, it's hypocrisy rooted in racism/tribalism. Infuriating but not surprising at this point. thefridaytimes.com/30-Dec-2023/wh…
@PeterBeinart Great article. Thank you, Peter. Articulating so well the painfully obvious double-standard of so many who we believed were truly committed to human rights is a challenging but supremely necessary endeavor.
@PeterBeinart "Devotion to human rights elsewhere" - that's called imperialism bud.
@PeterBeinart Thank-you for this… I hope everyone reads it. Especially those who could do something about it. @JoeBiden @JustinTrudeau
@PeterBeinart Russia wants Ukraine = bad Israel wants Gaza = self defense
@PeterBeinart Great article thank you 🙏🏼
@PeterBeinart @mehdirhasan Duplicitous behaviour
@PeterBeinart Happy Monday, Peter: Your point on the importance of UNRWA aid to Palestine, including Gaza, is well taken. But permit me to suggest that you're being far too charitable to Joe Biden and his "administration's" continuing support of Israel's genocidal, ethnic cleansing, nation stealing, fascist Zionist regime with $$$billions and unlimited supply of arms. The bottom line: Biden and his "administration" obviously are accomplices in the slaughter of upwards of 30,000 Palestinians--and counting--in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem, 9,000 of them children, the wounding of more than 60,000 and untold thousands buried under the rubble of bombed-out Gaza. This is far worse that "cruelty"! "Biden and Gaza: Is Cruelty the Point?"
