I propose a minimum tax of 25% for billionaires. Just 25%. That would raise $500 billion over the next 10 years. Imagine what that could do for America.
@POTUS If they taxed the 770 billionaires in the US with a combined net worth of $4.8T at 100% it wouldn't cover the federal spending for one year. Perhaps the problem isn't how much we tax the rich, but how much the politicians spend. #taxationistheft
@PeteGClark @POTUS Who said it would cover federal spending for a year? Your argument is “let’s not do anything.” This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t tax them their fair share.
@PeteGClark @POTUS but why not still tax the rich what everyone else gets taxed? just because it won’t solve everything doesn’t mean it won’t help.
@PeteGClark @POTUS Ok. Cut the defense budget in half. Deal?
@PeteGClark @POTUS In a few short years, there would be fewer large profitable businesses and successful entrepreneurs left to fleece for cash. Don’t kill your golden geese!
@PeteGClark @POTUS I bet with some creativity the US could run off it's own money, generating it's own money, not sucking the blood out of its inhabitants drop by drop. The stock market is disgustingly wealthy, politicians have billions, why do they need our money anyway? Why do we need taxes?
@PeteGClark @POTUS Trump's been saying it since the 80s.
@PeteGClark @POTUS It definitely is a spending problem and our governments only solution to anything is throw some money at it and hope it goes away. We are now in a hole we cannot climb out of as no politician works for the American people anymore. None of them.
@PeteGClark @POTUS Taxes pay for valuable infrastructure though, nice roads for everyone to use. We all put our money together for a better environment to live in
