Sincere Q: Can anyone explain how big companies think they'll benefit from this ad strategy? Ad trends have gone from: 1. "Women are in the house—&in the Senate" to 2. Showing real women's bodies to 3. Featuring a biological male parodying women thru acting out stereotypes.
@amyalkon People don't but products based on quality anymore, but as a form of virtue signalling. Consider premium vs "fair trade" coffee. The extra cost of fair trade goes to the owners of the coffee farms, for premium coffee it goes to the skilled workers it requires.
@redoaksmember @amyalkon I mean that has always been the case. Brands signify thing to people. Its always been true. Sometimes that "thing" includes quality, but not always or its not always the most important attribute. Its often about status.
