@MrAlCoates If this takes place without proper preparation it will simply, repeatedly by rote, leave vulnerable children and adoptive families at great risk of the underestimated impact of worlds of trauma colliding.

@principalest There should undoubtedly be less homework (I'm being diplomatic when I really think we should BAN it) and community wide, carefully structured, inclusive, developmentally based social opportunities provided instead. Proper youth work. Bring back some joy to the lives of children.

@teamsquarepeg @betsydet @NotFineinSchool So often CBT, which does have its place, is used by professionals as a tick box approach that signals that enough has now been done to return to the expectation that a traumatised child/adult comply, rather than those professionals adapt to offer safety and connection instead.

@SusannaRustin While absolutely a true component of institutional racism and discrimination, the use of adultification in this horrific case seems like an attempt to sanitise extremely abusive actions. She was at school. There seems as much individual as institutional responsibility here.
