The haunting, ethereal sounds of @PerilousChapel directed by countertenor @Gletara brought the audience to a standing ovation yesterday. They were treated to an uninterrupted hour of the 'Holy Minimalist' composers with John Tavener at the fore. The performance was exemplary.

This article insinuates that if we don’t let maestros bully their musicians, then “We return to an 18th century world where the musician is a servant”. Frankly it seems that some conductors already treat people in this way. You’ll always get better musical results with kindness
If you want conductors to become the faceless time-beaters of the 18th and early 19th centuries, you will inevitably remove much of the charismatic authority that has given classical music its pre-eminence in culture and society spectator.co.uk/article/replac…
