If you don’t know whether you should do something with your dog, ask yourself: —Will this help my dog to find me as the most relevant and interesting person in the universe? —Will this help my dog to learn how to think and develop better impulse control?
Update from a client who met the same vet who was going to euthanize the dog before they came for rehabilitation.
You need a dog who will pay attention to you in your house before you can have a dog who will listen to you outside of your house. How much time do you spend in training your dog inside?
A well socialized dog knows how to watch the world go by and remain centered, like a boulder in the middle of a fast flowing river — no matter how much noises and splashes the water may make, the boulder remains solid and unmoved.
When you feel anxious around your dog, work on increasing the control you can have in those situations. That is what training can give you. When you have more control, you will have more confidence — and the anxiety will go away.
Disengage in distractions and engage in the human.
Work on how you conduct yourself in front of your dog can really help your dog to know how to better conduct himself around you.
Obedience training is teaching a dog to do what you ask; behaviour training is teaching a dog to do the right thing on his/her own.
This is the air purifier we use in the client meeting room and the dogs’ room. It features an industrial grade HEPA, a chemical filter that was designed for decontamination in chemical warfare, and two UVC germicidal lights to keep the air as clean and germ free as possible.

In order to 100% advocate for our clients, other than wiping and spraying disinfectant frequently, we also apply UVC light and ozone for 60 mins after each and every meeting to ensure the highest level of sanitation in our facility.
