@DiscussingFilm Animation is fun due in part to exaggeration you can't achieve in live-action. The Minions are too animated. Trying to make them live-action (or even a practical effect like a Muppet) would be like trying to get emotional expression out of someone loaded with Botox.

I used to use @Walmart, and while they've dropped the ball on most everything else, they have it so you can see the driver coming from the store to your location. This is helpful, since I prefer to come down the elevator and meet the driver outside at the curb.

I just started using @MyKingSoopers for grocery delivery. It was really nice being able to order online and have prompt delivery with someone I could communicate with. One suggestion: make delivery drivers trackable, so customers can be better prepared to receive delivery.

@RonnieAdkins I look at movies similarly to how I view music lyrics: they don't have to be 100% true to reach me. I can enjoy a movie that takes liberties. But if the liberties you take undermine the art, then we have an issue. Whether something undermines art is, of course, debatable.

@theajennda Did they ask first? Because if they asked, and I gave them permission, then I wasn't weirded out. Maybe impressed by their work ethic. If they didn't ask, that's weird, and I'd be having a conversation with them about asking permission before messing with somebody's property.

@ChristianityOn There's definitely a mindset I've gone through as an ND where I reveled in being "special," but I'm at a point now where I'd trade it all in just to be able to keep a tidy living space. I realize now I'm not special, just messed up.

@that_one_mook The snobs will tell you things, but good drinks are those you like drinking, drunk the way you like to drink them. Moderation is also the key to enjoyment. You may find you *really* like a drink, but make sure you enjoy it, and it doesn't enjoy you.

Overall, it's a solid story that's put together well, and it feels like its goal is to pique interest in the American Revolution, which I feel it does. Expecting anything more than that feels like too much. I like that it's a patriotic movie that doesn't apologize for patriotism.

I know a lot has been said about its lack of historical accuracy. I don't expect it to be accurate, just close enough, and it is. It does gloss over other issues it could address--notably, slavery--but that's not a dealbreaker for me.

"The Patriot" is a good movie. It had been some time since I'd seen it. Some of the dialog comes across as overly sappy, but tolerably so. If its greatest sin is that it's overly optimistic, I'm okay with that.
