There’s an incredible arrogance about [STAR 80]: Fosse must believe that he can make art out of anything.
Mariel Hemingway tries hard & has a touching quality, but she’s all wrong for [Dorothy Stratten] – she’s simply not a Bunny type.
Can a movie get by w/total disgust for its subject? Fosse piles such an accumulation of sordid scenes that the movie's nauseated by itself.
