We’d like to thank @secondhq for providing Paperclip Ark with the needed patch to prevent this boarding attack from occurring on our own Ark server. No funds (the server’s, users’, or otherwise) have been affected. ark.paperclippool.xyz
1/ On Monday 5 Oct an attacker exploited a bug in our Ark server's boarding flow and took 0.75 BTC of Second's own liquidity. No user funds were affected.
Paperclip mining is back online. The main outage lasted approximately 7 hours and 27 minutes, from October 4 at 23:37 UTC to October 5 at 07:04 UTC. Our hosting provider identified infrastructure connectivity issues and migrated the pool VPS to another host to restore service. The provider confirmed that the original disks, wallets, databases, and payout records were preserved. Mining is active again, and Lightning and Ark have also been switched back from our backup node to the primary backend. Thank you for your patience.

Paperclip Wallet 0.8.2 Ordinary Ark transfers use 33.5% less recovery funding on the updated Paperclip ASP: 2,660 sats without change or 3,990 with change for one input. ark.paperclippool.xyz/wallet/
To briefly explain why Ark transaction fees may presently be higher than expected: Our tests found that Bark-style recovery packages aren’t accepted by the Knots default relay policy we tested. Bark uses zero-fee parent transactions with zero-value anchors, then pays the package’s fees through a child transaction. Knots’ default dust policy rejected that arrangement; configurations rejecting version-3 transactions also blocked it. This is a relay-policy issue, not evidence of an RDTS consensus violation. It explains why Paperclip currently uses individually funded recovery transactions—and why we’re working to reduce those reserves without relying on special node settings.

Keep the wallet service online to answer invoice requests; closing the browser is fine. •Locally generated receiving QR codes for on-chain, Ark, and Lightning. •BIP322-simple message signing and verification for wallet-owned Taproot on-chain addresses. Back up the complete wallet data before upgrading. Do not downgrade after creating a reusable offer: old binaries cannot read its checkpoint. Implemented and released as 0.7.7. Shows recipient amount, recovery reserve, service fee, and total debit before sending. Rejects any cost increase above the approved total. Adds authenticated POST /api/v1/fees/ark/send. ark.paperclippool.xyz/wallet/
@PaperclipPool @secondhq @ConnorsLabYT One piece of feedback for small payments: with the funded recovery profile, an Ark send reserves about 6,000 sats.
