Yelling "the 49ers should have run the ball more" ignores the realities of football and this game. The Chiefs played a great game defensively, taking away the first-down run while staying disciplined on the back end. SF successfully stabilized offensively, but it simply wasn't enough in a 75-minute prize fight. That's sports. Agony is part of the deal — retroactively and simplistically blaming playcalling is rarely a productive critique. It certainly wasn't tonight. Credit both teams for leaving it all out there and the Chiefs for earning a championship
