Just watched a prime-time TV interview with a Polish Catholic nun presenting the most articulate and impassioned defence of why Poland should help migrants currently stuck on its border. Important to note that parts of church have often been against government line since 2015.

Much will depend on voter mobilisation, how many minor parties make the parliamentary cut, and coalition building. Of course, the polling trends may well change again before elections - scheduled for autumn 2023, but possibly coming in spring 2022 (according to Warsaw whispers).

A fundamental fact of Polish politics beyond the noise: almost a year ago, PiS dropped from around 45% support in polls to around 35%. Despite fluctuations, it has basically stayed there. This puts its chances of winning a third term in (minority) government at around 50/50.

Migrants on Polish-Belarusian border still dominating news cycle in Poland. This is politically useful for PiS, as anxieties over migration are very much "their" issue. Tricky for opposition, as most Poles are against taking in Muslim refugees (though attitudes have softened).
