1/2 #OnThisDay in 1982, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was adopted. It protects rights of equality, Canada’s official languages and multicultural heritage, as well as freedoms such as the freedom of expression and assembly.
2/2 None of the Charter rights are absolute; they work in conjunction with other laws. The Charter replaced the Canadian Bill of Rights, enacted by Parliament in 1960.
@OurCommons So what? The Charter is worthless against a tyrannical government.
@OurCommons The Charter of Rights Trudeau uses to wipe his ass with? That Charter?
@OurCommons Three words: ArriveScam Vaccine passports
@OurCommons The Covid era proved the Charter is worthless. Our rights are inalienable, yet politicians of all stripes treated our rights as if they were temporary privileges which they can take away on a whim. I have zero faith in the Charter to uphold our ideals. It’s a proven failure.
@OurCommons I will believe you when every MP who voted for the EA (which was found to be illegal in Federal court) is held accountable.
@OurCommons For complaining to the @SCC_eng this PM sent his late father's organized crime connection to assassinate me, whom the @rcmpgrcpolice caught.
@OurCommons Yeah and you all used it as toilet paper for the past 4 plus years.
