I disagree with the suggestion @elonmusk made (see my reply to him below) but I REALLY dislike the pile-on. He's a good faith actor, and the world needs good faith actors with clout who want to solve the biggest problem facing the world, even if they're wrong.
@KonstantinKisin @elonmusk Konstantin, I’ve listened to many of your discussions on this topic but I cannot reconcile the stance that Russia cannot lose here and Ukraine must be free of Russian influence to stand alone. One or the other must happen, correct? Still trying to understand Putin’s mindset here
@burner_lamo @elonmusk My suggestion, and right now it would be impossible since neither side would agree, has been, from day 1, that Ukraine give Putin a bloody nose and then trade away things that don't matter to Ukr (Donbass, Crimea) for PERMANENT security, i.e. NATO or strong UN peacekeeping force.
@KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk Nooo! Konstantin - don’t go over to the dark side. No one can negotiate with a mafia state. I hope Ukraine pushes the Russian army out of their territory completely, and sanctions are maintained until Putin’s government of war criminals is out.
@londix1 @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk Nobody wants to but in the end you have to. Since Russia is a nuclear state the Berlin 1945 option is not possible.
@OskarfromSweden @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk If Russia is allowed to slice off parts of Ukraine then that sets a dangerous precedent that will fuel other countries to obtain nuclear weapons. Surely that is more dangerous?
@londix1 @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk You mean the way that the US was allowed to slice off a part of Serbia, Kosovo, set up a military base there and then allow this part of Serbia to declare indepence? That kind of precedent?
@OskarfromSweden @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk The US had to be talked into intervening there to stop the Serbs from committing genocide (which was proven at The Hague). The Russians are pretending that they’re doing the same thing with the Donbas. But it’s a lie as usual. How can you live in Sweden & not see this?
@londix1 @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk No. (1) The US was funding & supporting the KLA even before the war started. (2) There was no genocide. Not according to the ICTY. (3) Removal of civilians from villages/ countryside only started after NATO attack began.
@OskarfromSweden @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk The ICTY convicted Serbian leaders of genocide: icty.org/en/press/icty-…
@londix1 @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk (1) Ratko Mladic was Bosnian Serb. Not Serbian. (2) the conviction was for the Srebrenica massacre. Not Kosovo. (3) the ICJ has rejected claims of widespread genocide in Bosnia (4) the population that is harassed and expelled from Kosovo are its minorities - Serbs, Roma.
@OskarfromSweden @KonstantinKisin @burner_lamo @elonmusk There was a genocide in kosovo, and milosevic would have been convicted of it had he not died during the trial. Kosovo is still an autonomous region within Serbia. It was not colonised by the US as Russia is attempting to do in Ukraine. icty.org/en/content/pro…
