It's always a cool experience when I'm thinking deeply about a problem for awhile, and a good idea suddenly appears. It really feels like that idea came from somewhere else, like my brain is connected to some bigger collective intelligence that I can query subconsciously. Let me tell you a little story I came into web3 the first week of 2022, and during that week I spent my time researching the platforms and leaders of the music NFT space, looking to connect and trying to find the best platform where I could drop my music I was used to the “web2 way”: platforms, influencers, etc. I also researched who the biggest music NFT collectors were to try understand what they were collecting and why I started sending hundreds of DMs, intro emails, submitting dozens of applications forms to platforms. Joining the biggest platforms discords. Nobody replied. The “leaders” weren’t approachable, the collectors weren’t responsive, and not a single “established” platform accepted me or even responded. Guess what…. I thought to myself “this is nothing new, I’m used to this shit. But I think there’s more to this space” So I basically fucked the leaders, the platforms, and the big collectors off of my mind, and decided to start over. I went and hung out in musician spaces, and met @NiftySax , another Italian musician who was very direct to me and told me something I will never forget: “you need to find your own people by doing the thing you love the most, and they will follow you. No platform, big collector, or “leader” will make any difference whatsoever” I took that as my bible. And we are, 2.5 years later, with one of the strongest most organic communities in web3, almost 10k music NFTs sold, millions of $ in secondary volume, concerts around the world and I just bought a house. Where are the platforms & “leaders” who ignored the little new comer back then? Calling failure of the very industry they spent so much money on worked so hard to gate keep Moral of the story: Do what you love and do it hard , diligently and relentlessly. Welcome people that appreciate it. Love them, respect them and protect them. Don’t waste your time trying to fit in. Be yourself and welcome those that want to fit in with you. All the rest is bullshit.
