On August 28, 1963 an estimated 250k people came together for the #MarchonWashington to demand equal rights for Black Americans. 60 years after that historic moment, President @BarackObama reflects on how the Civil Rights Movement inspired his own community organization journey:
Demand #Biden #PublishTheERA #1stPoliticalOrder “… the surest way to curse one’s nation is to subordinate its women. … what is done to women, ultimately is done to the nation-state” USOW - "Publish the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The country has yet to enshrine gender equality in the U.S. Constitution, leaving women, girls, LGBTQIA+, and gender-expansive people particularly vulnerable to further rollbacks of rights. For women of color, this extra layer of protection is particularly critical, as their experience with sex discrimination is magnified by the intersection of discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity. It is time to fulfill the promise to form a more perfect union and to strengthen our democracy by publishing the ERA as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing all persons protection against discrimination on the basis of sex."
@ObamaFoundation @BarackObama We need to start thinking and operating like a startup . Speak to your local representatives and facilitate a design thinking session to come up with better solutions where equality is an outcome and not a far fetched bright future idea. This needs to happen now
