Hamas’ own casualty stats do not even vaguely support this conclusion that Israel’s war is remotely close to as bad as what the Serbs did in Bosnia, let alone what Lemoine is suggesting here that they’re actually far worse.

🧵You're gonna love this. @mehdirhasan released a new video of himself and several colleagues reciting emotional words written by journalists killed in Gaza. Best part? The "journo" Mehdi chose for himself is Hamza al-Dahdouh, a member of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization
Why did I deepfake myself? To see if conversing with an AI-generated version of myself can lead to self-reflection, new insights into my thought patterns, and deep truths.
This is what I mean when I say their primary concern is being a blurb in history books They wanna be read about in some 9th grade history class

I still consider this my biggest faiilure. Questioning what anime is isn't faulty on a conceptual level, but the way I presented it was. Shoulda eased off the wikipedia definition as an opener. The cultural zeitgeist of how people define anime is also probably shifting wildly.
These tests were impossible, because the ambiguity in the questions allowed the examiner to selectively fail anyone they wanted. That said, there’s little evidence this specific test (which makes the rounds regularly as an example) was ever used. 1/

"Anti-zionism is anti-semitism" is clearly an attempt to shut down debate and stifle free speech by leveraging dumb leftist ideas against the left. But "anti-zionist isn't anti-semitism" is an effort to elide scrutiny of the content and implications of anti-zionist politics.
There is a claim that Title VI is behind reaction to protests - not addressing instances of harassment is prohibited and sanctioned by loss of federal funding. Executive order signed by Trump in 2019 added antisemitism to the list. Is there a good writeup of the role it plays?
I’m happy to accept this, but conversely if your agenda is the end of Israel that’s different from an agenda of “end the war” and in fact antithetical to the goal of ending the war quickly.

Mehdi, if this is true and you’d like to defeat Netanyahu, then the proper response is to make sure pro-Palestinian rallies also center the hostages and stop dehumanizing Israelis. If Netanyahu’s strategy is to exploit the insecurities of his own people, you contribute to that…

@johncusack We didn’t find the evidence, it was provided by a terrorist organization that routinely engages in atrocities and has a record of lying about the other side.
Clearly you are hypocrites because you would have behaved in the way I say you would have in this scenario I just invented. Check mate, Zionists.

I’m totally fine accepting the “anti-Zionism isn’t antisemitism” thing and in fact have made the related “criticism of Israel isn’t antisemitism” point many times, but 1) it’s complicated by a lot of the “graffiti on the temple” shit, and 2) anti Zionism is inherently idiotic

Why are we the only minority that people feel comfortable saying this stuff about? Imagine if someone said "all those sudanese folk sure do love getting ethnically cleansed, it boosts their cause"

If they were calling for the rape of Palestinian women I’d call the police myself and say they’re making terroristic threats Y’all refuse to admit some of these protestors are fucking deplorable and it undermines your “Zionism not Jews” claim dramatically

What @skjask said.
@redbullsvviings Can you name some other minority groups who want to be oppressed? I think it’s common sense that black people don’t like racism, women don’t like sexism, gay people don’t like homophobia, et cetera. But suddenly when it’s about Jews, we wish for our own oppression in your view?
Truly amazing! Columbia decided to hold its students accountable to the laws of the school. They are seeing the consequences of their actions. Something these kids were most likely never taught. Good SAT scores and self-entitlement do not supersede the law. I am sure you would…
