Israel and Ukraine are "gateways to Europe" that China and Russia want to control, and America can't afford to let that happen. China's plan is to have Ukraine and Israel function as critical nodes in its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Beijing's long-term grand strategy is to reshape global connectivity, secure non-dollar supply chains, and expand its influence through economic interdependence. China's BRI aims to link East Asia to Europe via multiple redundant corridors, reducing reliance on vulnerable chokepoints and U.S.-controlled sea lanes while creating trade dependencies that enhance Beijing's leverage over Europe and the United States. They can't defeat the U.S. militarily, and so the idea is to wage economic warfare against the American economy by attacking the dollar itself, which they think they can do by promoting non-dollar trade between Europe, Asia, and Africa. This is one of the big reasons that Russia invaded Ukraine, it's why Russia and China both support Iran and the creation of a "Palestinian" state, and it's also why Russia invests so much money in anti-Israel influence operations. Ukraine as a Land Gateway: Positioned at the Europe-Asia intersection, Ukraine offers rail, road, and Black Sea access for the New Eurasian Land Bridge and related corridors. Israel as a Maritime and Eastern Mediterranean Gateway: Israeli ports like Haifa (operated in part by Shanghai International Port Group, to the objection of the United States) and Ashdod sit on the Maritime Silk Road route through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean. They are key to the integration of the Middle East into the China-Indian Ocean-Africa-Mediterranean blue economic passage, making Israel and its regional neighbors (like Iran) EXTREMELY VALUABLE from the Chinese perspective. The biggest advantage America gets from maintaining alliances with NATO, Ukraine, and Israel is the leverage to stop the China-Russia bloc from wrapping its tentacles further around Europe and Asia. Ukraine and Israel would likewise benefit from a mutual defense pact because they ultimately have the same enemy. Russia and Iran are basically just doing China's dirty work. The real reason Iran didn't cave faster than it did is that it had Russian and Chinese backing. Russia likewise has Iranian and Chinese support for its invasion of Ukraine. Permanent defeat of Hezbollah and the IRGC requires the permanent defeat of the PRC and the Russian Federation -- and vice versa.

Opening the Strait of Hormuz means that Trump is now better able to increase pressure and sanctions on Russia without worsening oil supply shocks. I know everyone forgot that Iran's biggest state sponsor is still mass murdering Europeans but this is kind of important.
