Today one of my postdoc projects (lead by Sean Gallen) is out in Nature Geoscience! Low-T thermochronology can be inverted with stream profiles, marine terraces, and cosmogenic isotopes to learn about subduction processes! Check it out: nature.com/articles/s4156….

@HugoLantman Often for kyanite the pleochroism is only visible in sections thicker than 30 um. But you're probably right that there's some compositional zoning.

@CalamitaMan @sulfosalt I see sinistral as well based on the microshear bands that offset and truncate small parts of the mica. That being said, it's entirely possible to have shear bands with opposite shear sense in flattening strain settings. Which have been observed in several metamorphic core comps

#thinsectionthursday Winged inclusions in a hetereogeneous dolomitic mylonite. Well developed inclusions suggest a gamma of 15-20, less developed ones closer to ~10
