Hard truth…
I can speak freely because I’m 65 years old and my pocketful of fucks is seriously depleted.
Working as a paralegal at various studios in LA for thirty years…I had the opportunity to observe studio executives closely.
They’re generally a slippery and clueless bunch who shouldn’t be allowed near anything remotely creative…but the new regime at Paramount is straight up evil.
I assure you.
These soulless bastards have nothing but contempt for a show about grace and redemption and the struggle against fascism.
ATLA is a mystery to them.
They. Do. Not. Value. The. Franchise.
Saber Interactive’s AAA ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ RPG has been canceled.
The game was said to feature a brand-new Avatar living thousands of years before Aang.

Sokka: oh, no, moon spirit... why did you take her away from me 😭😭😭
Aang: we shouldn't be doing this when he's watching, he's still healing from the past.
Katara: Sokka We're sorry 😔😔 the moon spirit will send you a true vine again... (And here comes the kiyoshi warriors)
If @netflix eventually adapts LoK…
will fans finally appreciate Korra more than they do now?
Or will the adaptation create an entirely new fandom war? 🔥😭
Because if ATLA fans argue this much over one adaptation…
imagine what happens when Korra enters the conversation. 👀
The cruel irony is that both Avatars were actually successful.
Yangchen protected humanity so effectively that people never saw the spiritual costs.
Kuruk protected humanity from those costs so effectively that people thought he wasn't doing anything at all.
Kuruk was quietly hunting dark spirits his entire life, spirits that existed because humans kept breaking the agreements Yangchen negotiated after she died. He couldn't tell anyone because exposing the problem meant exposing how fragile the peace actually was.
So he let people think he was wasting his life while the spiritual toll of destroying dark spirits was literally killing him from the inside.
Yangchen on the other hand didn't set out to break the spirit world. She prioritized humans ruthlessly and trusted the agreements to hold after her. And they didn't. That's the tragedy, her decisions were deliberate, but the consequences were ones only her successor had to pay for.
She knew it too and when she spoke to Kyoshi about, she regretted her actions.
avatar yangchen was genuinely out here destroying the spirit world for human economic development and we're supposed to celebrate her?? she forced spirits into isolation and kuruk literally died at 33 cleaning up her mess.
it's a surprise that an airbending avatar did worse to
Not exactly, Southern waterbending wasn't lost with her. That's actually the whole point of her episode.
Hama survived Fire Nation imprisonment for decades, kept her bending alive in secret and even invented bloodbending just to escape. She passed Southern techniques to Katara before they fought, including bloodbending, which Katara never wanted but never forgot.
Katara trained formally under Master Pakku in the North. But the Southern style lives through her specifically because Hama refused to let it die in that prison cell.
That said, Hama mainly taught Katara bloodbending. Katara was already a skilled waterbender before they met.
By the end of ATLA, Katara is arguably the person carrying both traditions forward, Northern techniques learned from Pakku and Southern heritage preserved through Hama and her own tribe.
So Southern Waterbending didn't die with Hama. Katara became its heir.
@20Aristotle@orisha1808 The reasonable explanation for me is that she asked one of the gaang to help her spelt it out. This is just a random fan theory
