I just had a player drop out of my C&C campaign. They admitted the system didn't really excite them. And I have to admit, I am starting to feel the same way about OSR-type systems in general as I play (similar with the weird homebrew Shadowdark game I play in on Sundays). It's not EXCITING. You don't get really cool abilities and powers. It's lower power, and while I get the appeal, that's not as FUN. It reminds me of when I tried EverQuest a couple of years ago on one of their classic servers. It was enjoyable, but it really put into perspective how MMORPGs have evolved for the better since then. New D&D has its flaws, but the gameplay loop has absolutely improved.

I enjoyed 3.5 a lot (never played PF 1e but I've heard it's basically the same). It did have massive power creep if you really were lenient, though. I kinda wish they had just fixed dipping into multiple prestige classes, that would have made is amazing. I also really enjoyed 4e; unpopular opinion, I know, but I thought it was almost brilliant (Skill Challenges sucked ass because they flat out told you to force people who wouldn't be good at it to participate, and the "party role" wasn't needed).

@BLKfeatherPress They'd enjoy it more I think. They gave C&C a fair shot (so did I after not playing that sort of game since the mid 90s). I also grew up with videogames so I see the appeal

@TaleMasterTOV All the above. Having cool abilities to do definitely helps. It's part of why I personally thought 4e was good. Finally my fighter can do cool combat maneuvers not just "I swing my sword"

@Falconator100 @brave @Dexerto Not loading, taking longer; it's like... constantly reloads the page every 1s until I reload, then it works. It generally happened every time I first loaded a video, after a reload it worked fine.
