They did this to my daughter, even though I am a neurologist well-versed in treating epileptic seizures! I ordered a mobile EEG, showed them all the spikes (epileptic activities), and they had to prescribe antiepileptics. None of them worked on her, and they were proven right again! Guess what? I started her on Valtrex, and all of a sudden, her ‘fake’ seizures stopped! The underlying cause was HHV-7, and it resolved ‘magically’!

@NeurologistMom Wow! Was there other evidence it was HHV7 specifically, rather than, say, some other herpes virus? (Or maybe valtrex affects only HHV7??)
@NeurologistMom I no longer believe in “pseudo seizures”
@NeurologistMom I’m so glad you found the root cause. Dr Patterson has been helping me and he has also been treating LongCovid patients with Valtrex plus an immunomodulator. These doctors diagnosing FND should be ashamed!
@NeurologistMom @ScienceBuck Sometimes seizure-like activity in ME/CFS can be stopped with cervical traction, as well.
@NeurologistMom @gemcarey I’ve been refused EEG & lumbar puncture more than once, & when a convulsion started in a consultant’s presence in hospital, he just walked away from the bed, leaving me alone to ride it out. I know it was infection-induced. They wouldn’t believe me, based on their beloved CRP.
@NeurologistMom Wow, so glad that you found that out and the treatment is working. My HHV7 titer is very high, but my Dr was only talking about a problem with HHV6 and EBV which is PCR proven. Thanks for sharing!
@NeurologistMom Surely antiepileptics don't ALWAYS work on EVERYONE? I bet there are types of seizures which ARE caused in the brain & are not psychosomatic but which are still not [fully] understood? Aren't 'epileptic spikes' only one version of many types of possible weird electrical activity?
@NeurologistMom No patient should need to have a parent who is a neurologist in order to be treated for having seizures. This is beyond torture. My 💔 for Allegra, for Millie, for Carla and the many other cases who preceded them and the ones we don’t hear about. It’s clear medical malfeasance.
@NeurologistMom Something is missing in their training... too much emphasis on unveiling "fakers" & not enough emphasis on "we don't understand everything, so you need to believe your patients unless you have 100% proof that you shouldn't". So sorry you're going through this with your daughter!
