Speaking at #UNSecurityCouncil Open Debate on Women, Peace & Security, Amb @LokThapa2071 reiterated Nepal’s commitment to WPS agenda & underlined importance of strong political will, unwavering commitment & sustained intl. cooperation to prevent conflict-related sexual violence.
Amidst elevated debt distress, rising financing gap & enhanced vulnerability, LDC Chair Amb @LokThapa2071 urged for a new framework for debt relief, establishment of an infrastructure financing facility and targeted aid-for-trade for LDCs at the General Debate of FfD Forum 2024.
Amb @LokThapa2071 met with H. E. Mr Selwin Hart, Special Advisor to the Secretary General on Climate Change & briefed him on the ‘International Expert Dialogue on Mountains, People and Climate Change’ being held in Kathmandu on 22-23 May 2024.

Addressing a side event co-hosted by Nepal & Kyrgyz Republic during #CSW68, HEPR @LokThapa2071 stressed the importance of student-engaged learning focusing on climate change & use of digital tools for accelerating education to empower women & girls in mountain regions globally.
Mr. Toyam Raya, Chief Statistician (Secretary) of Nepal Statistics Office, emphasized the importance of 'inclusive & representative UN Statistical Commission to leave no one behind', at its 55th Session, while welcoming the Bureau's report on the Commission's working methods.
Speaking at the PrepCom of the 4th UN Review Conference on SALW, @aryalindira reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to prevent illicit trade of small arms & light weapons. She emphasized the need for stronger international cooperation & sustained assistance for effective global action.
During the UNDP annual segment, DPR @KaushalRay023 commended UNDP's efforts to assist various countries in achieving SDGs including poverty alleviation, inclusion, climate action, and crisis response. He thanked UNDP for supporting Nepal's overall socio-economic development.
