Ellis Marsalis Jr.--jazz legend & founder of our Jazz program--received a Special Merit Award at this year's GRAMMYs. It was accepted by his son, Jason, and Jason's daughter, Marley.
The late Ellis Marsalis is awarded with the Trustees Award at the 2023 Special Merit Awards. Jason & Marley Marsalis accept the award in his honor. Marsalis was a jazz pianist and music educator regarded by many as the premier modern jazz pianist in New Orleans.
