Council changes transfer rules, permits immediate eligibility for transfers who are academically eligible/in good standing at prev. school & meet progress-toward-degree requirements at new school. Decision not final until meeting ends Thurs, must be ratified by DI Board Monday.
Academic requirements will replace previous year-in-residence requirement for student-athletes transferring more than once as undergraduates.
@NCAA_PR College sports is no longer amateur sports. It's a semi-pro league.
@NCAA_PR You all sold out, didn’t think it through, bc you wrongly believed that it would be a long term consequence to the sport and you’d all be retired / gone by then. However the sh** show you created will happen much sooner and your names will be attached to it forever
@NCAA_PR So they’re changing the rules.. to make transferring EASIER and MORE common?!? Awesome.. totally not the complete opposite direction they needed to head.. great.. No way this will have any negative effect on the industry.
@NCAA_PR At what point do we quit calling it college sports? It’s now just a rookie league for pro sports that’s about “who gets what.” Millions of fans have lost interest and I think that only gets worse. The best product was always college athletics, for many reasons. It’s been ruined
@NCAA_PR @GoodmanHoops If Acedemics were remotely important the portal would not be open until after finals. Amazing that athletes can travel around for weeks and pass classes.
@NCAA_PR By immediate, does that mean if I played for one school on a Monday I can play for the next school the following Friday? Like THAT immediate??
