Things I've learned at 25 I wish I knew sooner a Thread 🪡: Life, Finances, Work
Growth in the work place starts when you stop waiting for someone to notice you and start making them remember you.
Stop downplaying your value to make others comfortable. You worked for your skillset..
You’re not “difficult” for asking questions, setting boundaries, or wanting clarity. You’re being intentional
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room. But you do need to make sure your work speaks when you do.
Keep learning on your own time. Certs, courses, books, mentors—your next opportunity might come from what you taught yourself.
Build a brag folder. Keep receipts of wins, stats, and impact. You’ll need it for raises, interviews, and exit plans.
Learn to advocate for yourself in emails, meetings, and pay reviews. Closed mouths don’t get raises—or respect.
Soft skills pay hard. Learn how to communicate, lead, and handle conflict—those skills get you promoted faster than talent alone.
Work-life balance isn’t a myth. It’s about creating boundaries, learning to say no, and prioritizing what matters most—inside and outside of work.
Your job isn’t just a paycheck—it’s a stepping stone. If you’re not learning, networking, and growing, you’re just spinning your wheels.
Protect what you build. Get insurance. Build an emergency fund. Create a will. Wealth dies fast without protection.
Your budget should reflect your values, not just your bills. If nothing you love is in your plan, you’ll always feel deprived—even with money.
Stop trying to save what’s left after spending. Instead, spend what’s left after saving. Flip the mindset and your money will follow.
Get in the habit of checking your bank account daily. It’s not anxiety—it’s awareness. Know your numbers like you know your IG likes.
Your rent or mortgage shouldn’t eat more than 30% of your income. If it does, everything else gets harder—fast.
Your 20s are for learning how money works. Your 30s are for applying it. Don’t skip the learning part just to look rich.
One of the best things I did post-25: opened a high-yield savings account. Getting paid to sit still? Yes, please.
Start putting money in a Roth IRA—even if it’s $50/month. Future you will thank you for the tax-free retirement bag.
