When Donald Trump was asked how 1,000 Americans dying a day could possibly mean Covid was “under control” he said, “it is what it is.” So forgive me if I don’t give a flying fuck about how hard it is to sit in a cold courtroom. When a military widow was mourning the loss of her husband, Trump told her “he knew what he had signed up for.” So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how embarrassing it is to trend for publicly passing gas in the middle of publicly passing out. While a rabid mob of Trump crazed zombies beat our Capitol police with their own shields, tased them and sprayed them with chemicals, he sat and watched it unfold on tv. So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how much endurance sitting in a chair with your mouth shut requires. When a beautiful young boy nicknamed “Smiley” was murdered in his school, Trump said we had to “get over it.” So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how challenging it is to stay awake when grownups are discussing the crimes you committed. When a young woman was killed, Trump lied about personally speaking with her family because he didn’t actually give a shit about any of them & just wanted to use her death for fear mongering propaganda. So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about him maybe missing his trophy wife’s kid’s graduation. He golfed and tweeted while refrigerator trucks piled up with bodies. He ate lunch while the men and women defending our Capitol were nearly crushed to death. He joked when Paul Pelosi was attacked by a man with a hammer. He has intentionally stoked, poked, primed and prodded the cult to commit acts of violence against his foes and their families. He’s pardoned some of the most viscous, evil creatures on earth while praising despots & dictators as being “strong” at the same time. He fell “in love” with Otto Warmbier’s murderer, and became BFF’s with Khashoggi’s. So please forgive me if I don’t give a single, solitary flying fuck about how much personal fortitude it requires for him to sit his criminal conman, racist, rapist fat ass down in a goddamn chair in between feeding times four fucking times a week. Because I really, really do not give a motherfucking fuck about how “hard” he thinks he has it because at this particular moment in time, the worst consequence he’s ever faced for his lifetime of depravity, is to have to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up for a couple of hours a couple of days a week. Forgive me but I just can’t seem to find a single goddamn fuck to give.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that a 160-year-old abortion ban can be upheld—and Republicans who previously backed it, including Senate candidate Kari Lake, immediately began flip-flopping on the issue. Trump announced that he stood with GOP efforts to ban abortion in states. It should be expected from someone who bragged, "I was able to kill Roe v. Wade." Ultra-MAGA conservatives are waging a war on women because they know they can count on Trump's support as they push beyond abortion to attack individual rights like contraception, voting rights, and free speech. 3. Trump social media rants are commonplace these days, but last weekend was different. Last weekend he specifically asked how long it will be before someone “steps in” to defend him against the judges assigned to his many civil and criminal court cases. Just like on January 6th, he’s conjuring up the violence and chaos to shield him from accountability. We all know he is vengeful, corrupt, desperate, and bitter… we also know he knows exactly what he’s doing when posting this rhetoric for his MAGA extremist base. No one should gloss over this and act like it’s normal.

Dear Ma & Pa MAGA, Now I know that questions like these are about as interesting to you as a tutorial on gun safety, an explanation of how Easter dates fluctuate year to year and a thesaurus, but you see, I’ve long since stopped giving a fuck, so I’m gonna ask it anyway. And this isn’t really about you answering as much it is about me pointing out your culture war ridiculousness, so if you’re able to, and yer not too busy shooting up beer cans or rage-jerking to Tucker Carlson’s latest rants about unsexy candy characters in comfortable shoes, please do read along. If not, no worries, I’m still gonna say what needs to be said. So here’s what I want to know - what exactly are Republicans FOR these days? What are they offering? What are they promising? What are they giving you? Because it’s not infrastructure, the Dems did that. It’s not healthcare, which the Dems did too. It’s not all the other stuff the Dems are doing like lowering the cost of your insulin or lowering your taxes, it’s not creating jobs, not bringing manufacturing back, not honoring our vets, not actually “backing the blue” or “supporting the troops”, it’s not ending the opioid crisis, addressing the border, making Mexico pay for the wall, not lowering unemployment, raising wages, improving maternal care, feeding starving children, not keeping books on shelves, keeping the planet green, keeping you safe at work, protecting social security or growing the GDP, it’s not protecting your reproductive rights, your access to IVF and contraception, protecting Democracy abroad and it’s sure as shit not protecting your kids from gun violence at school. When a bridge collapses after a ship collision and six workers die, they blame DEI. When a woman is killed they blame the border. When a movie theatre gets shot up they blame “mental health.” When a long-standing day of visibility for a group of people who pose no harm to them outside of the fact that they simply want to live their authentic lives, coincides with Easter, they blame “blasphemy.” They say America sucks, that our economy is in ruins, and that our streets are rife with more crime than ever, when none of that’s true. They say prices are too high, but vote against stopping gouging, that our roads are in disrepair, but then vote against fixing them, and that our border is in crisis, while refusing to even vote on a bill THEY themselves demanded and co-wrote. They’re not doing a damn thing about the kitchen table issues you think about every single night. In fact, they’re telling you that they’re coming for the shit you rely on like affordable healthcare, access to IVF and contraception, they’re telling you they are coming for the social security you have been paying into. But you can’t hear them. You don’t want to hear them because you’re too busy being “scared” that your kid’s teacher wants them to be “furries” when they’re not, that immigrants come here to commit crimes, when they don’t, that some drag queen you’ve never met and you do not know tried to “indoctrinate” kindergartners with a book about earthworms when they simply would not and have not. You’re too busy welcoming being stoked, poked and prodded with manufactured outrage and irrational fear, too busy letting them embrace your intolerance, empower your biases, and embolden your bigotry to ever care to notice that they offer you nothing which is real. They’re for fostering angst, anxiety and anger in a “failing nation.” They’re for telling you that someone else is to blame for your failures. They’re “for” openly hating who you hate. That’s it. That’s all they are “for.” And unfortunately, despite the fact that nothing could be further from the truth, that’s all you seem to think you need. And I want to know why.

The real story, the one that’s buried beneath the sensational headlines, is far more intriguing: Truth Social could be a front for a campaign finance scam. Let me break it down for you: Direct donations to political candidates are subject to FEC laws, which impose limits on the amount that can be donated and require transparency about the source of donations. Now that Truth Social is a publicly traded company, however, supporters and even foreign entities have a new, surreptitious way to back Donald financially without having to make a direct political donation. This is a cause for concern. Still, today’s developments offer some positive news: without a solid financial foundation, the company’s ability to operate, let alone pose a threat, is significantly compromised. One thing is certain: our eyes are open. And we’re watching.
