@cmmteach “Tell us about the last thing that made you laugh” was a good one. Lots of funny stories emerged.

Hi #mtbos, tell me which algebra tiles you prefer (and WHY) for 8th graders... the ones with positive and negatives for x's, squares, and units or the ones with x's, y's, their squares, and units. #msmathchat

Hi #mtbos, next week I am training a group of MS math tutors. I want to create a pocket chart of helpful questions to ask their peers while tutoring. What are your best "helpful" questions?

#mtbos #iteachmath I am looking for a "free write" warm up prompt to give students tomorrow before we take our first unit test. Any suggestions for something relaxing/refocusing?

Started planning my first #alg1chat unit on polynomials this morning. After checking standards and district pacing, my first stop was @mathequalslove. Thank you, @mathequalslove for your willingness to share everything. Your work is awesome and it makes my job easier! #mtbos

@cheesemonkeysf @k8nowak For the first time last year, I taught CTS and I found it magical. We used algebra tiles for our entire quadratics unit, so CTS only made sense. CTS brought meaning for students that could never have been understood from only using the QF. Seriously, try it with tiles!

@MrCorleyMath @iteachmathAll Definitely looking forward to read this. I made the leap from HS Algebra 1 to MS Algebra 1 and am starting to find my voice in my own opinions.

#Satchat This is the most useful thing Hattie has to say: “The remarkable feature of the evidence is that the greatest effects on student learning occur when teachers become learners of their own teaching, and when students become their own teachers”

I just found these and am stoked. I love having problems around like these but have always struggled to get them together and formatted in a way that makes sense. Thanks, NRICH! #MTBoS nrich.maths.org/public/leg.php…

@suzannesturm @ddmeyer @MsZwhs I know it means other math-y things as well. Like to show a repeating decimal.....

@ddmeyer Honestly, just my best guess at the name. But the fact that it, by its nature, groups numbers and operations clearly, means it would solve the debate being had in the problem. And it gives it meaning to Ss instead of just “another way to show division”.
