🧵Incredible article & an emotional read. It’s great that awareness is shifting, but we need to start addressing long covid with coordination & urgency. Are we happy for so many to be incapacitated repeatedly, or can we finally focus on prevention? theaustralian.com.au/weekend-austra…
This article mirrors my experience closely - just starting to regain some function, not back to normal by any stretch, but improved. Considering looking for work, going for walks. On reinfection I had to cut back work dramatically, lacking the stamina to do a supermarket shop
I’m 6 months down the track from reinfection, slowly improving again. Knowing that reinfection can instantly rob me of months of function is frankly terrifying, but also angering.
I want to work, do things with my family, I don’t gain anything from being sick. I don’t want to spend months each year, or most optimistically, every few years, struggling to get back 60-70% of my normal function - which is the best I’ve been able to manage since January 2022.
I call on the government to pay more attention to the serious issues of long covid, covid reinfection, and support for those suffering - there are now so many of us. @Mark_Butler_MP For your interest @Mon4Kooyong @zdaniel
