We've been down this road, the prophecies of Karl Marx, the literature of Dostoevsky, they are almost say the same thing, we pursue the ephemeral signs of success, diminishing the core of human values. The competitive capitalist market has its gains, but this flaw is so damning.

One funny thing about life and why I believe life is harder for men is that as a man your value will always be intertwined with how much money or status you have. People will pretend all they want for however long they want but eventually it always boils down to this.
I agree with this, I like being grown up. Every now and again, I find myself cringing at the actions and things my younger self did. Makes me appreciate the journey thus far and inspires my imagination for what’s to be with guided positioning.

We have musicians but not a music industry. And this cuts across many fields in Africa. Once we have a few players, we don’t worry about bottom-top pipeline synergy, we call it an industry. An industry needs a predictable value utilization and liability management structure.

For structure: give away the ending. Stop when you’re done. An important skill in writing is knowing when and how to stop. This, I cannot teach you. You will have to train your imaginative instincts enough to know the best way to end a line, sentence, paragraph or a chapter.
However, suspend your inner critic and get some words into the page. Then ask again: “have I said what I wanted to say?” Again, until you review it many times, you may realize that you’ve not said it. You must revise, revise and revise.
You will not get it right at first. Do not take anyone seriously if they do not have the habit of revising their first drafts over and over again. Writing is actually revising. If it were simply writing, we all will be.
Writers must constantly ask: “what is it I am trying to say?”. Surprisingly, many times, you will not know the answer to that seemingly simple question. And that’s a problem because clear writing is a product of clear thinking.
Writing is hard work. A clear sentence is no accident. Very few sentences come out right the first time or even the third time. If you find that writing is hard, it is because it is hard. It takes a lot of practice to be a good writer.

To be clear though, I don’t think you need a science background to be a fantastic lawyer. Partly depends on what area you’re interested in—considering the growth of more esoteric asset classes in finance, for instance, people with math & finance backgrounds have a decent edge.

I love this thread so much, but I just don't quite agree with your definition of success, Destiny. I think success is subjective; there is no universal definition of success that applies to everyone. It depends on an individual's goals, beliefs, values...whatever they may be.

Even law. The partner I work with has a first degree in math. Two most senior associates in my structured finance team have degrees in engineering and physics. Amongst US lawyers generally, it’s pretty common to find first degrees in finance & accounting.
