Jesus and the power of evil (Luke 8:26–29) with Peter Orr. Peter Orr, Lecturer in the New Testament Department at Moore Theological College, reflects on Jesus’ healing of the man possessed by a legion of demons. What should we make of the power of evil? Peter reminds us that evil is overwhelming, and that treating it casually can lead to enslavement and destruction. But Jesus is greater than evil: he is Lord and saviour, the one who rescues and restores our humanity. The Library has recently acquired a rare 1543 copy of the King’s Book (A necessary doctrine and erudition for any chrysten man), one of the key documents of the English Reformation. Printed by the King’s Printer, Thomas Berthelet, this rare volume offers a fascinating glimpse into the theological and political changes of Henry VIII’s England. For Michael Morrow, music and ministry have always gone hand in hand. After coming to a deeper understanding of God’s grace as a university student, Michael pursued ministry training through MTS and later studied at Moore College, wanting to be deeply grounded in Scripture so he could write songs shaped by God’s word rather than simply reflecting the ideas of others. Today, Michael serves at Trinity Church Adelaide, overseeing music ministry while continuing to write and record songs for the church. He is passionate about helping Christians engage with God through singing that is biblically rich, theologically faithful and emotionally authentic. His prayer is that God would continue to use music to help believers dwell deeply on the message of Christ and grow as thankful, gospel-shaped people. Thinking about how you can serve Christ in the “second half of life”? Moving from the events industry into full-time ministry, after a year at Moore College, was a significant step for Tim Worton. Today, he serves as a pastoral carer with Youthworks Year 13 and as a ministry worker at Menai Anglican Church. Looking back, Tim says studying at Moore was “really the best thing I’ve done.” For Susie Wright, studying God’s word later in life has been a valuable investment: “The time is always right to come to College. People my age bring life experience and bring something different to the table.
