@teriarchibbles I know that feeling! Knock on wood, but I was only able to find a semblance of stability once I left the game industry. I'm closing in on 4 years FT, and I hope for many more!

@Daggers_nDice But mostly they're there for us to get on the same page. The first 0 is for information, and I hand out any written stuff, (world lore, homebrew, etc) (and questionaires). The second is for answering questions, setting table rules, and talking about characters. (2/2)

@Daggers_nDice In the games I run, I have two session 0s! I may even have three next time. During these sessions, I ask questions about what the players are looking for in their game, we talk about the concept for the upcoming campaign, I brief them on what's expected for characters, etc (1/2)

@goosidore For sessions, I go with a PC priority: I write out a summary of what's intended to happen that session, then I write down the party members as bullet points. Under each one, I write out how this session is relevant to them. This way, everyone has a chance in the spotlight.

@goosidore I usually prep quest lines separate from sessions (homebrew game), and I pull information from the quest line to prep said sessions. I take a few weeks off every season or two to update/write out any quest lines needed for the next chunk of the campaign. (2/3)

@WorldofCorde I played a wizard for the first time last year. Order of Scribes! She was SO much fun. I always avoided wizards because I thought they'd be complicated to play, but building her and running her through combat was a blast.

@thekellhop D20modern and PF1e taught me what it is I should prioritize in a system for someone like me to have fun, and I pull in my experiences from those systems as a DM for a 5e game so my players have a silly, sometimes broken, but always interesting game, haha. (3/3)

@thekellhop I craved something fantasy after that, so 2nd game was PF1e. But I ended up not liking that system much. I found that they tried to answer every question for you, but the answers never quite fit what I was asking -- at the time, I found it overwhelming and restrictive. (2/3)

@AramVartian I play at tables with a heavy neurodiverse presence. There is no way we'd be able to play Daggerheart; impulsivity, big emotions, loud players and quiet players, it just wouldn't work for us without the structure of taking turns. There's no disrespect intended at these tables.

@AramVartian I disagree. It's not about a lack of respect. I have never played at a table where players endeavored to rob their fellow players of a fun time. It's about differing play styles and expectations, and how some rules around sharing are needed to streamline these things. (1/2)

@Gingerblast Gameplay like this could be fun at a small table, I think... but it requires a level of self awareness and cooperation that would be difficult to balance at any table, even tables that have played together for a long time.
