Then the same AI boom that minted fortunes in chips started eating the software seats it was supposed to help. The fear in one sentence: If an AI agent can do the work, who pays for the seat? 🤖 Yet the businesses are still growing. The stocks got crushed anyway. Each story is different: $ADBE — Fear biting hardest 🩸 Record Q2 revenue of $6.62B. AI sales tripled to $500M (still <2% of total). Stock hit 8-year lows, down ~50% from highs. CFO exiting for Marvell. Analysts slashing targets. The new AI business is tiny; the old one is under attack. $NOW — Punished for being too good ⚡ Grew 21-22%, raised its $1.5B AI revenue target for 2026. Stock crashed 40% earlier this year, clawed most of it back, still down ~19% YTD. Priced for perfection — “great” wasn’t good enough. $CRM — Moat nobody trusts 🏰 Fastest sales growth in two years (+12%). Stock bounced to ~$166 but investors keep asking: what if AI agents make the Salesforce seat optional? Bottom line: This is a sentiment crash, not a business crash. All three are profitable and growing. All three own deep customer data and workflows. Bulls: These giants will run the AI agents. Bears: Seat-based moats mean nothing when the work moves to agents. 2026 is the year we find out who’s right.

 1. Memory
AI doesn’t run on processors alone — it needs massive, fast memory to feed them. New fabs take 3–5 years and HBM is already sold out through year-end under locked contracts. That’s why this corner exploded: SanDisk up 400%+ this year, Micron up 200%+. Roughly 70% of all memory made in 2026 is going straight to AI.

The compute itself. GPUs get the headlines, but the fast-growing slice is custom ASICs that hyperscalers design for their own workloads. The hidden squeeze is advanced packaging (CoWoS) capacity at the foundry, which caps how many can actually ship.
$AVGO $AMD $TSM $INTC (INTC is more of a contested turnaround/foundry story than a pure momentum AI winner) 3. Connectivity
As GPU clusters grow from thousands to tens of thousands, the wires between them become the limit. Every link needs optical transceivers and DSPs. Marvell’s data center revenue has seen triple-digit growth in key periods and Nvidia put $2B into it. Optical transceiver shipments are nearly tripling amid the AI ramp.

Racks went from 14kW to 120kW+. Air physically can’t move that heat anymore, so liquid cooling became mandatory overnight. Vertiv’s order backlog hit $15B — up 109% in a year — with orders up 252%.

Before a chip runs, power has to get to it. Switchgear, busways, and transformers are the unglamorous chokepoint — high-voltage substations now carry 3–5 year lead times.

The US is staring at a ~49GW data center power shortfall by 2028. The grid simply can’t deliver it, so hyperscalers are building their own power on-site. Bloom nearly tripled in 2025. Oklo signed a deal with Vertiv to put reactors next to data centers.
$BE $OKLO $NNE $BWXT $SMR $VST $CEG 7. Neoclouds
Someone has to buy all those GPUs and rent the compute out. That’s the neocloud layer — specialized AI clouds, many born from crypto miners pivoting to AI. CoreWeave carries a $66B+ backlog. Nebius revenue grew 684% in a quarter and signed a $27B Meta deal.

The deepest moat of all: only a handful of companies on earth can build leading-edge capacity or the tools to make the chips. Lam Research returned 143% in 2025 as memory makers raced to convert lines to HBM.

Power, cooling, and electrical gear are ~10% of AI earnings — but 100% of the chokepoints.
The neoclouds and chips get the glory; the plumbing gets the signed orders and backlogs.
