@rstuo221 @isohelsgarden I'm sorry that turned you off from the game. Competitively it is very unforgiving, and Falcon dittos are by far the most 0td heavy--other match-ups aren't nearly as bad But if it makes you feel any better I've been JV 5-stocked 3 times that I can remember, all as Falcon

@magpietheb1rd @fraserlikelaser the problem with ledge camping isn't that it has literally no counterplay (although for many characters that is the reality), it's that the risk/reward is skewed massively in Puff's favour, and it does nothing to progress the game state

@LocusSK @UnHaven @PracticalTAS @americanshope I've seen some tournaments run 7 minutes and I think that's fine, but doesn't really change much. And 6 minutes would probably be too low. The main problem in all these discussions is just Puff lol she can avoid interaction entirely, in ways unlike any other character

But that will never happen because we've been running 4 stocks for like 20 years. There isn't really any meaningful change we can make to the timer with 4 stocks imo

@LocusSK plenty of people have played for time. I ran the whole planking/air camping Puff strat for a whilr and beat some ranked players with it (long before LGL was implemented). Only one person has been banned for it, and it was for being an asshole more than anything

@TheXIF fun fact: I just learned it's tied to percent like other ledge options. If you're under 100% you fall often after 11 seconds, but at over 100% it's 8 seconds. This has been in the game since 64 but it's more extreme in that game (18 vs 8)

@CharlieHaruno this is really a ruleset issue. I've been saying we need a Puff-specific LGL) like they did with MK in Brawl) and an airtime limit the main deterrent for this kind of play is the social contract, which should be enough but, well...

@ssbm_dright @pge4yurii it actually is a viable playstyle against most of the cast if you mix in air/circle camping on big stages. the thing is you actually need to be somewhat good at the game to make to make it work

@TheBlueShinobi @TheGanonCannon1 @SpudboyDan not only that, but Melee lets you keep your intangibility for the full half a second even if you let go (to double jump aerial, ledgedash, etc). This is unique to Melee, I every other Smash game (and platfighters as a whole), it ends when you let go
