Schools that try to 'bury' the bad news of a teacher being assaulted and sweep it under the carpet for the sake of the corporate image are absolutely part of the problem. Almost blaming the teacher for being assaulted, using all the 'right words' but no actual support. Poor.
@RogersHistory It should be an automatic suspension for any assault whatsoever, no matter the cause or the consequence, or how minor, or the child’s age. There should be no option for the headteacher. The purpose of the suspension is for the time to put things in place to keep the teacher safe.
@SingeB @RogersHistory Silly suggestion, every situation is different and young children in particular are sometimes physical as they are unable to communicate in any other way.
@DeniseD70927071 @RogersHistory Hmmm. So you are suggesting that the scratches on the three nursery staff I saw last week in one class are not a reason for a three year old child to be kept at home until effective strategies and actions are securely in place? Or that it’s ok for some children to hit teachers?
@SingeB @RogersHistory please don’t tell me that 3 year olds should be suspended from nursery.🙈of course effective strategies should be put in place to meet children’s needs and reduce the risks to staff but please differentiate between this behaviour and “assaults” on staff.
@DeniseD70927071 @RogersHistory Not sure pre-compulsory can be suspended. Are you really saying all children should be in class when they exhibit these sorts of behaviour, which tie up all adults every day and largely ignore the needs of the other 45?
@SingeB @DeniseD70927071 @RogersHistory This is the reality. It doesn’t get any better as they get older, either.
@MisterHBrown @SingeB @RogersHistory Rubbish, most children learn to use words to communicate their needs!
@DeniseD70927071 @SingeB @RogersHistory Most… not all.
@MisterHBrown @SingeB @RogersHistory Contradicting yourself, less children is better not the same.
@DeniseD70927071 @SingeB @RogersHistory I don’t think I did. I never said anything about all children, just that it’s the reality many teachers are facing. That these children disrupt the others and should be getting specialised provision instead of chucked in mainstream to save money.
