Bessent disinvites media members but invites Russia to G20 Finance Ministerial.
That alienates our European partners especially, making them less helpful & trusting of US on sanctions/other G7 issues.

Bessent's "economic D-Day" is the opening move in a much longer campaign against Iran.
Operation Economic Outcast expands pressure beyond oil and banks into gold, crypto, shipping, aviation and third-country trade—raising the stakes for China and its financial links to Tehran.
You've probably seen a ton of posts like this in the last few weeks, but opening G20 remarks with the two of them sitting side-by-side sends a message refuting these claims.
Bessent's "economic D-Day" implies a reach far beyond Iran.
@CameronOtsuka & @LeveredUSTs connect Operation Economic Outcast to China-linked trade networks, the banking race into stablecoins, and Jackson Hole/Asheville as checkpoints in the new dollar infrastructure buildout.
The offshore dollar system is being pulled back toward Washington.

"You can't mask the symptoms of the disease. If you keep giving yourself painkillers, the cancer is going to rear its head."
@LeveredUSTs on why Druckenmiller is telling Bessent to let the 30-year price itself and stop papering over the entitlements crisis with buybacks.
"The central banks aren't going to buy Bitcoin. Their panic shows up in a bid for gold, and then Bitcoin follows."
@LeveredUSTs says we're in something similar to 2019, heading toward a bottoming event.
TFTC 786 w/ @LeveredUSTs: "That 25% rip wasn't retail smashing buy. The accounts that actually matter, the big balance sheets, panicked into Bitcoin."
We discuss:
⚡ Who really bought the 25% candle

Bessent's long-end Treasury buybacks may be aimed at more than the yield curve.
@LeveredUSTs argues buying Treasuries puts cash in fund managers' hands to absorb foreign selling in a finite, but powerful, show of force as US-Canada negotiations unfold.
Canada is a major fault line in the AI capital competition while the US, EU, and China vie for its resources.
@LeveredUSTs traces the fight from Trump-Carney tariff talks, to Brookfield, mortgages, insurance, and even basketball.
The slowdown is already taking shape, before GDP reflects it.
