Have written a lot on this topic. If the NCAA changes its stance on CHL players through a vote by the coaches (unlikely) or if it's forced through the courts, the change will be that CHL players are ALL eligible as soon as they can enroll. Not "after their CHL careers are done."

The CHL, in planning for this, wants to keep players through their 19-year-old season. There won't be any working agreement between the CHL and NCAA. From an NCAA perspective, if a change happens, those players will just be eligible the same way USHL players are eligible.
@MikeMcMahonCHN So basically a 16-year old could play 2 seasons of juniors in Canada and then enroll as a freshman?
@MikeMcMahonCHN if the CHL pays for the players full education at the US University, then Im all for it. That would be just like Usports today correct?
@MikeMcMahonCHN How do you work around players who have signed and players who are rostered with players who have signed professional contracts?
@MikeMcMahonCHN This is gonna happen. The NCAA is already an older league with the avg freshmen being 19+ years old. NIL has killed the longstanding argument that NHL signed players “taint” the amateur status of other players. Last year U of Miami (OH) was granted a CHL player.
@MikeMcMahonCHN plus the crazy rule that drafted CHL players can't play in the AHL until a silly set of metrics get met
