Andrew Wiggins declining his player option and re-signing on a long-term deal at a lower starting salary could create enough apron space to re-sign Norman Powell. But after seeing some of today's trades and contracts, Wiggins' market could be too strong for that to be feasible.
MIL has a TPE big enough to absorb Vando/Knecht now and will be in asset accumulation mode. So there’s an option in LAL wanted to shed money
This Heat roster needs shooting. They can re-sign Norman Powell up to any amount with his Bird rights and even extend him now. They'll need to reduce their payroll to create space to re-sign him. They could also use more flexibility to open up the full $15M mid-level.
The Heat are now hard capped to the first apron by using the 125 percent expanded trade exception for Giannis Antetokounmpo. They have $18.1 million in first apron space to fill 4 roster spots. They can create more space by trading Nikola Jovic or if Andrew Wiggins opts out.

Kasparas Jakucionis was Miami's version of Boston's Hugo Gonzalez hang-up. Had been hearing all day the Heat did not want to part with the Illinois product on top of their Herro-Ware-Jacquez-No. 13 structure. That's an All-Star guard, three recent first-round picks still on rookie deals, a second lottery pick in tomorrow's loaded draft class, plus two more future firsts and a swap... It's really a sizable haul for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Compared to Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks.
Because of the current first apron restrictions, the Giannis trade to Miami cannot be finalized until July 6. The Bobby Portis $14.5M salary goes into the $16.8M Duncan Robinson trade exception.
The Heat are sending to Milwaukee unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033 along with No. 13, a pick swap in 2030 and a 2033 second-rounder, according to sources. The trade does not include any additional teams -- it is a one-to-one move, sources said -- but both the Heat and Bucks will execute the deal on July 6, which leaves the framework open to see if there are opportunities to expand.
