In the P&L, the fixed costs are all in there……they don’t move that much especially if you have open capacity…..throw in a couple contribution margin + jobs and that + drops right to the bottom line. Doesn’t mean you can have a whole book of business at CM+, and you have to be very careful to not pollute your market pricing, but sometimes you take that extra work at a little lower margin to get the “drop thru”. Understanding the difference between variable cost and a “full loaded” cost and how they are done is really important.
