I suppose I'll just go ahead and say it at this point. It was Mason. When his agent arrived in Pittsburgh on Sunday evening, it was with the expectation of finalizing the contract the team had offered him (basically, the same contract they had given Trubisky). Instead, the team reneged on their offer. Mason then reached out to Kenny (they've become close friends) and let Kenny know what had happened. Then, Kenny found out about the team signing Russ through social media. Between those two things, Pickett decided he was better off elsewhere.

@MPFrazer KP made the right move. The signing of Fields was inevitable. I don't know whether Kahn is being influenced by the Pittsburgh sports media, who all think they're GMs or the fan base but he clearly decided to move on from KP. KP showed rare moxie in comeback wins. Deserved more.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer KP was historically bad, just brutal
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer Yeah, he did make the right move. For us fans.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer As a bengals fan, I wished they kept KP. He sucked.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer Kenny showed the rare ability to be the worst qb in the league. “Moxie for comeback wins” was sucking for 56 minutes and his defense keeping them in the game, and actually making a play or two in one drive
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer Do you know what’s funny this organization can never win. They are damned if that they do and damned if they don’t it was time to move on from everybody. I think Mr. Rooney finally realized that he couldn’t go on doing things the way that used to be done.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer hahaha....yeah he made great move!!
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer I think the issue of Kenny leaving is moot. His time was done in Pittsburgh the moment they started Mason over him when he was healthy. Good for him and team to just move on. I’m more interested in why they chose Russ over Mason… sounds like they weren’t that high on Mason.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer KP made the right move? Goes from stater to backup.......great job Kenny. Negotiates just like he plays football.
@MethodOfKeynes @MPFrazer I hope they transition away from a moxie-based offense
