I’m finding it rather amazing how quickly we have accepted that our post will rarely arrive, that we can’t see a GP, that a 12 hour wait at A&E and a 3m wait for a passport is perfectly normal, that paying more taxes for significantly shittier services is inevitable etc.
@MerrynSW And yet you contributed to this situation by supporting Brexit. It's made us poorer, as it obviously would. This is just a manifestation of that.
@MerrynSW Didn't you leave or plan to leave Scotland just recently in order to get access to 'better services' in England?
@MerrynSW Given that most people accepted without question that shutting down society - which in turn led to all of the above - was a normal, planned and correct reaction even to a generational pandemic, it is hardly surprising.
@MerrynSW Either you can third worldify the first world or you can first worldify the third world.
@MerrynSW Because you won’t do anything about it. And voting does not count. You have to do something. You’ve forgotten what it takes to build and maintain a country.
@MerrynSW That trying to open a bank account for a small local organisation takes months & months.. That sending parcels to friends in Europe will often come back undelivered weeks later despite having correct postage and full customs declaration form on it…
@MerrynSW Don't forget the trains! It is now a mistake to plan a trip to London and book either theatre seats or non-cancellable hotel rooms because bad management has made trains so unreliable.
