@MaytalKowalski Peace with who? Hamas doesn't want a two state solution and the PA is so corrupt they have no internal support
The question is what would you have Israel do, not "what ideal do you fantasize about". Both diplomacy and state imply functional entities able to engage in both. Israel engages in diplomacy throughout the world, with the superpowers, and with it's former enemies. It runs a functional state that cares for, protects and engages all of it's citizens irregardless of religion, race, or sex, and that is able to transfer power between democratically elected leaders after elections. Palestinians have not yet created a state that can perform any of these obligations (or metrics, however you want to view them). There is no partner for Israel to be diplomatic with nor any institutions that can credibly function as a 2nd state. That the world collectively pretends the PA fulfills that role is sad, dangerous, and counterproductive. I would have Israel, and the world, make clear to the Palestinians it is time to mature, time to pull themselves up, dust themselves off, reflect and get to work. Change and independence must come from within, no one can "give" them a state. They have to build it. Otherwise they will simply be ruled by whomever "gives" them a state as they will be a state by the will and leave of whomever is doing tje giving. There is no simple solution.
@MaytalKowalski Reminder of who Israelis would have to engage in diplomacy with:
@MaytalKowalski ah, yes. those famously diplomatic hamas militants
@MaytalKowalski Why don’t the world chooses peaceful diplomacy with ISIS?
@MaytalKowalski Oh if only that hadn’t been tried before
@MaytalKowalski With whom? There is no acceptance of a Jewish state in any borders.
@MaytalKowalski And in general that's how you feel rape victims should defend themselves?
