Liverpool need to upgrade their 1v1 options and Barcola is excellent at such qualities.
I suspect Iraola will want better dribbles also as losing the ball in a dribble allows for more effective counter press. As you can select the area of the pitch in which a ball loss could occur. This is why Iraola encourages his players to dribble.
🚨 BREAKING:
Liverpool are preparing a bid of £94.25m for Bradley Barcola with £35m in potential add ons.
The full deal could reach £130m, breaking the British transfer record for the French winger.

If Real Madrid want to keep with the freedom to star players approach. A weaknesses of this approach is a lack of possession to rest. Their squad needs a ‘brain’.
Since Kroos left the team has become too vertical. Introducing Rodri allows for more settled rest periods on the ball. Giving them a ‘brain’ again.
If Arsenal do manage to sign Vini Jr. The left side dynamics would increase dramatically. A wide triangle of Vini Jr-Rice-Calafiori has the perfect balance. Players capable of playing in numerous parts of the pitch making rotations very fluid.
It would also provide perfect balance to the right side of the pitch and allow Saka to have great influence of matches and Vini Jr gravity would be able to distort defensive structures to the left side. It would become very hard for teams to defend. x.com/lebrongoatjr20…
For the wide players Liverpool need to sign this season, the ability in counter pressing will play a heavy influence. Iraola is a coach that relies on chaos to generate chances. So a player that is disciplined OOP and is great at winning duels is just as important as the IP.
Given what Jude Bellingham said about Jordan Henderson it is no surprise Chelsea have signed him. Seems a great player for fixing the culture. Proper leader.
Alonso looking to get some much needed senior players in the team. Missing out on Xhaka was a huge loss for them. But Welbeck should be a nice addition to the squad culture.
🚨 Chelsea exploring move to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion. Terms end 2027 & #BHAFC aware of interest. Early stage but optimism on all sides deal can be done; quality + leadership appeals to Alonso / #CFC@TheAthleticFC post @kierangill_DMnytimes.com/athletic/74724…
𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣(𝙊𝙊𝙋), it’s about maintaining compactness and coherence with clear roles and tasks depending on the adopted method of defending. Top coaches are also characterized by how they react to initial failures when the first line of pressing is bypassed. The compensatory reaction usually aims to conceal the triggering error that leads to a domino effect; however, it can be hidden if you are prepared for it, and Iraola is, although it can be detrimental, with the right balance, the risk of danger can be minimized #LFC

Rodri to Real Madrid is a game changer. Since Kroos has left, Real Madrid have lacked someone to orchestrate the tempo. Often times they have attacked too quickly which causes them to lose shape easily when they lose the ball.
Rodri fixes these issues, whilst also giving them someone who shows responsibility in build up, another thing they have lacked.
Adds a top level transition threat, an unstoppable 1v1 player, a goal scorer and great creativity as well. Improves Arsenal in open play.
A team can allow for 1 top level player to cheat defensively. So adjustments will be made in the game model for sure. But I always think against low blocks especially Arsenal have needed a 1v1 threat on the left side. Look at every top team they all have at least one super star attacker. Arsenal were missing this.
Vini Jr joining Arsenal returns them to being certain to win the league again next season. I did think it was a chance for Manchester United or Chelsea to spring a surprise. But that is gone with Arsenals attack going up several levels with this deal.
🚨 EXCL: Arsenal exploring move to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. #AFC interest early stage + clubs not yet in talks but idea approved at all levels. Much rests on contract process as no breakthrough yet & #RMFC do not want free exit @TheAthleticFCnytimes.com/athletic/74695…
In the 2nd season under Slot, the press was poor due to a lack of vertical compactness.
Often the first line of pressure was very good but the 2nd line failed to back it up. This lead to huge gaps in the midfield.
This is the biggest thing Iraola needs to fix from an OOP standpoint.
With so many teams in transition this season in the premier league, I think this season we could get a surprise winner like Chelsea or Man United.
Arsenal and Man City are the front runners. But by no means a guarantee, Arsenal need investment as their key players look to be running low.
Man City could potentially be losing Pep, Bernardo and Rodri all in one summer. So they aren’t particularly stable either.
Liverpool under Iraola are a complete unknown.
The latest signings at Chelsea are interesting. Xabi Alonso is a smart man, a top manager, so I will not doubt him. But these signings certainly suggest a future using a back 3. With Rogers and Palmers as the inside interiors of box midfield with Caicedo and Fernandez as the pivot and 2 wingbacks giving width. Interesting to see this in the prem if so.
@THR676 I think Alonso will switch between the back 3 and 4 at times. He did so at RMA. Still the recruitment policy for the club the last 5 years has been baffling.
