Your career can be successful and still be financially fragile. Not because you earn too little. Because too much of your financial life depends on you continuing to earn.
Your future self doesn't need you to predict what will happen. He needs you to build a financial position that can handle whatever happens.
Here's a simple way to think about financial progress: Are you earning more? Are you keeping more? Are you owning more? Are you depending less? The last question is the one most people forget.

A second income shouldn't mean a second full-time job. If you're already busy... The goal is to build leverage, not simply add more hours.
If you've been earning well for years but still feel financially dependent.... That's a problem worth examining.
Not escaping work. Building the ability to choose. This is why I don't teach people to simply "make more money." I help busy professionals think about: How to build financial independence alongside the life they've already created.
I made a mistake that I see many successful professionals make. I focused too much on making money and not enough on building independence. I had a career. I earned a good income. I saved. I invested. From the outside, everything looked fine.
A strong financial position gives you something money can't buy directly: The ability to say no without fear.

This is the biggest shift I've experienced in my own financial life. I stopped asking, "How do I make more?" And started asking, "How do I become less dependent?" Those two questions can take you in very different directions.
What would change if you stopped trying to maximize your income and started maximizing your options? You might make different decisions. Instead of asking: "What's the highest return I can get?" You might ask: "What strengthens my financial position?"
