Climate change discussions focus on the global average temperature. But the climate isn't changing equally across the world. There is *a lot* of variation across countries. My colleague Veronika Samborska built a tool to explore the temperature change, country by country.
Here is Veronika's new @OurWorldInData article: ourworldindata.org/temperature-an…
@MaxCRoser @OurWorldInData While a wonderful tool, I wonder if having grid cell level data wouldn't be a good complement. Many large or north-south oriented countries will have averages that may be less meaningful than local data.
@MaxCRoser @OurWorldInData Incredible piece of work. I naively expected to see more uniformity by latitude, as my impression has been we're told polar regions are warming (much) faster. With consequent ice melts. Great to explore the data this way. As ever with climate, it's clearly complicated!
@MaxCRoser @OurWorldInData As much as I think you guys are doing a great job, the plots are almost impossible to see correctly on my smartphone
