How is it possible that the UK's emissions have declined so much? This is the main reason. The UK left coal behind. The UK's CO₂ emissions from coal are today lower than at any point since 1800.
@MaxCRoser Would be great to overlay GDP on the right axis.
@MaxCRoser @hblodget “How is it possible that the UK's emissions have declined so much? This is the main reason. The UK left coal behind.” Probably not. UK has been de-industrializing for the last 40 years. x.com/EdConwaySky/st…

@MaxCRoser And why is CO2 bad when all the plants use it?
@MaxCRoser Tadam! It all does not matter at all and will have zero effect on the environment.
@MaxCRoser We offshored our industry and mining. Our real emissions are much higher.
@MaxCRoser Wouldn’t this be a better metric? The UK’s ecological footprint has declined about 45% since 2007. We only need 2.5 earths for everyone to live like UKers! Used to be 3.5!
@MaxCRoser How much of that is replaced by biomass?
