Very good to see the increasing self-reported life satisfaction of young people in the world! — from the new World Happiness Report: worldhappiness.report/ed/2024/happin…
@MaxCRoser Interesting, very different from the graphs about rapidly increasing teen depression we have been seeing
@MaxCRoser Life satisfaction at the age of 15? Sure…that’s a reliable datapoint.
@MaxCRoser What changed around 2014? The graph becomes smoother.
@MaxCRoser I remember John Stossel interviewing a social scientist who said happiness research is a “smorgasbord of nonsense”. I do hope more people are happy and hopeful though.
@MaxCRoser Always struggle to draw out the value of studies like this - I'm no social scientist or statistician so perhaps I will never understand. But how can a sample size ever be representative of an entire population? Let alone the world?
@MaxCRoser @DrEmmaFrans I’ve scrolled through the report several times, but this figure doesn’t seem to be in it. Where can I find it? The report does seem to say that negative emotions are more frequent and that global happiness inequality has increased.
