Research is roughly a quarter of spending, which would be on the low side for a very research focused org, which they market themselves at. Unfortunately, from precedent its better than much in this space, which are thinly veiled grifts and almost nothing goes to research. I think better to fund small orgs. @internetuserf12 I've thought this, if a significant amount of drugs are derived from natural compounds, then it may be possible to make a mixture or extraction of natural compounds with directionally the same effect, possibly lower potency, at least on short timescales.

You also saw an echo of this with the vaccine. I know in more of the schizo worldview 'they' do this (make public opinion do a 180) as a kind of game to show how fickle the people are. The other internal emails question Dr. Weissman's motives but I would venture to say that his motives were to share truths that were inconvenient to those receiving them. Scientists, especially physician-scientists must be allowed to pursue scientific truth and publish their findings without fear of repercussions, having their reputations damaged or careers destroyed. I know something about this topic from personal experience. The future of scientific integrity and public trust in science is at stake. There should be support for research even if it goes against dogma, mainstream narratives or propaganda. Those responsible for cover-ups of truth or who have destroyed people's careers should be held accountable. Informed consent and appropriate oversight by regulatory agencies are still needed to protect the public from undisclosed or suppressed harms. The mRNA platform should also be explored as products that are safe and effective can help patients including those with cancer. Those injured by COVID modified-mRNA vaccines should be acknowledged and helped. The bar for FDA oversight of drugs has to be raised and enforced. It's a pretty vivid picture at least. But unless you have sequences from the lab dated pre-outbreak that are consistent with SARS-CoV-2, you aren't assured. You could still argue it as a coincidence but that would be such an infinitesimal probability. Other suitable evidence would be testimony from lab members (I'm not sure if this exists) or documentary evidence of a cover-up (may exist). A novel coronavirus emerges, of all places in the world, near the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the exact place where research was being done to test crossover potential of bat coronaviruses to humans. And the product looks exactly like what had been previously proposed in grant application, and matches a Moderna patent. A bit of clarification. There was a 2018 DARPA proposal by Eco health alliance (DEFUSE project) which was explicitly focused on modifying furin cleavage sites in bat coronaviruses to assess spillover risk. That one wasn't funded. This one would have looked very bad if it was actually officially running at the time of the outbreak. It's also not too much of a stretch that the very researchers proposing this might be doing it more secretively, away from US oversight. The actual funded project, which was running at the time of the outbreak (R01AI110964) was for isolating and culturing natural bat coronaviruses, creating chimeric viruses by taking the entire spike protein gene from one bat virus and inserting it into the backbone of another, and testing those chimeras for the ability to bind human ACE2, infect human cells, and cause disease in human ACE2-expressing mice. It's not dead targeted on the furin cleavage site but definitely uncanny. For the natural spillover scenario I'd have to believe that's all an unrelated coincidence.

Having had time to read it, its very thorough and there are a lot of mechanisms, I can't claim to recall them all after reading thorugh it, but I find the impact of lipid charge to be the most interesting. There is a mention of the impact of electric fields, which I believe is very ripe, I used to think about that a lot, but not a lot recently.
